The Real Survivor
"The world breaks everyone, and afterward many
are strong in the broken places"
-Ernest Hemmingway, A Farewell to Arms

Survival. The quintessential animal instinct. From the first moment we live
until our final breathe, what we desire is to survive.
Abuse threatens survival and to live through it, you are the real
survivor.
We all know that cuts and bruises heal... eventually. But scars can still
tattoo our bodies, leaving reminders of what once was.
Other times, the wounds aren't visible but can be as painful as the worst
kind of torture. Some memories may never go away and some wound just may never
heal.
But there's hope.
This page is for healing. Now is the time to reflect, to realize, and to move
on. Yes, it is hard and yes it will take time, but you are not
alone. For all the broken hearts and more out there, this is for you.
Most importantly, if you have been in an abusive situation, it is highly recommended
that you visit a counselor for the best advice. Seeing a counselor is not
a sign of weakness or that you're "crazy" or "can't handle it on
your own." You've been through an extremely stressful (to say the least)
situation and you deserve to talk to someone about it. Your guardians or any
trusted adult can help you out with finding someone to talk to.
